visions of sugar plums

Hello all! My newest favorite outfit definitely has me smiling :) It includes a couple new finds so here goes...


I scored a beautiful dress that is plum colored and super comfy. Paired with some dark blue or purple leggings, it's totally winter -ready.The dress falls about an inch and a half above my knees. It came with a black belt that I can have on or off so that was a total bonus :DDD (oops sorry, my hand is in the pic :P ). The yellow jacket I'm wearing in the picture was a gift from my mom for the windy weather out here. I must say it was crazy hard to find an outfit to match this mustard yellow jacket, but apparently dark purple was the color I was looking for.



The jacket has a really cool ruffle detail on the collar which adds a melodramatic affect to it, though the tailor wasn't very wise to use brown thread to sew the zipper. Good thing it's barely noticeable when I have the jacket on -__- . You can really see the cozy knit on the collar of the dress in this picture.


Another I really appreciate is when an outfit accentuates the waist with a belt. The thick belt causes the jacket to have a nice flair on the lower half , which I find very flattering to my figure. A nice tip is to place a thicker belt snugly across the waist in order to look curvier, I've also heard that placing the belt closer to the bust-line takes off a few pounds.

I've had these shoes for a year but I really only wore them a few times. However, they go very well with my new dress and they look especially nice with leggings. It's a little hard to tell but the insides are softly lined with some sort of furry material , while the outside is a classy purple suede.


I finished of the outfit with a yellow flower in my hair and VOILA! my look is complete. (sorry about the lighting, the picture was taken at night time after I wore this to a party :P )

My threads: Floral Scarf

Today was rather windy and instead of going for a sweatshirt like I normally do, I opted for this fitted denim jacket.



After watching too many re-runs of reality T.V I noticed that many of the celebrities that cameras follow around choose to pair denim with bright colors which inspired me too reach for this adorable floral scarf!



The Scarf was a Christmas gift but I haven't truly appreciated its potential until now. I have to admit it was always hard for me to find cloths in my wardrobe that went with this bright pink and tawny brown pattern. Most of the colors that go well with my light tan complexion are darker than the colors on this scarf. In fashion terms, I'm more of an autumn/fall. At least I can rest assured it looks very eye-catching on this wooden table xD




In order to stay comfy on the inside and stylish on the outside (denim tends to be rough on the interior) I wore a brown cotton hoodie. The hood peeps out of the coat collar and comes in handy when my hair is blowing all over the place. xD and I feel like the layering tends to elongate ones figure for all my petite friends out there! So with the hoodie, denim jacket and scarf, I was very cozy and warm. This pairing is truly a success!!!

Fall

October is coming quickly and with it, my favorite season. fall! :)))) I just love the weather and something about a windy day makes me feel so content. i love watching people scurry up and down streets to warmly lit homes and slowly, the city begins to prepare itself for Christmas. ( i don't really appreciate all the stores rushing to get into Christmas but it is the season a giving so it must be a big deal for them!) the leaves change into lovely warm colors and the atmosphere trades its warm august zephyr for a chilly October breeze. I love to be indoors when the weather is cold and sip hot chocolate with marshmallows, yummy. And who can forget the cozy fashions that go hand in hand with the season? from fluttering scarves to stiffly folded mufflers, people everywhere join in on the trend of the season (that is, staying warm :P) but fall is a time of color and what better way to display color than in layers? a personal favorite of mine is a pastel green army styled coat that my mom gave me . another thing i love about the season, is the vegetation. pumpkins ( pumpkin pie :DDDDD) squash and gourds, acorns , walnuts, candy corn . ok haha, so candy corn isn't really vegetation, but they always come seasonally during this time of year lol.

ahh candy corn, one of the sweetest gifts of fall. when i was little, i had a candy corn party with all of my friends. good times, good times xD. i have to say that out of all of the variations, my favorite type is the original candy corn flavor. so good!

these are exacltly what the leaves look like here in california! as you can see, none of them are the same, but all are beautifully unique. and everyone should expirience jumping into a pile of leaves at least once in their lives! plus, its a great incentive for cleaning out the backyard. ;) and personally i leave a little extra leaves out in the front yard for color and eye catching appeal. i think fall leaves really capture the spirit of the season...

upcomming shopping spree!

After applying for countless jobs around town, I have been anticipating a call all week from at least one of the stores I applied for. Unfourtunatley it has only been about a week and a half so I probobly shouldn't hold my breath just yet. At first I told myself that I would save my first check for my acedemic needs, but after realizing that it can take FOREVER to recieve a call from an employer, I have resolved to spend my first check a whirlwind shopping spree. Of course I will try not to blow it all on one item so I will be looking out for good deals as well as great additions to my wardrobe. But one thing is for sure, I'm spending all of it!( I'm not exactly sure how much my check will be but whether it's $30 or $300, It's gettin' spent! heh heh heh!) hopefully I will get a call soon! Can't wait to post my new goodies :D
