Elf Haul

Those who know me know that I am a very big fan of e.l.f cosmetics. It's true, I have more elf products in my collection than any other makeup brand I use. It's probably important to note that half of my elf enthusiasm comes from my love for good deals, and this brand definitely has them! My latest haul included a load of their studio products ( which are supposed to be better quality than essential products?) and I have to say that it was money well spent. The total lot included the studio : Cream Blush, Flawless Finish Foundation, Stipple Brush, Mist and Set Spray, High definition Powder, and Tinted lip Balm.I have had these products for about a month now and I would say that has been plenty of time for testing them out, so here are the reviews! :)

First up is the cream blush which is in the color: Flirt. I heard once during a beauty demonstration that contrary to many beliefs, a bright pink blush is safer with all skin tones than darker tinted blushes. First may I say, WOW. This is a lot of product!. the blush is also very pigmented which means only a little is necessary in order to achieve colored cheeks. The color itself is indeed bright and very pink. True to its' swatch, the color reminds me of a neon-ish color and really it only takes two layers to reach full pigmentation. I use the stipple brush from elf to apply this blush because the white bristles reveal how much product I've picked up (and we all know the difference between rosy cheeks and clown faces is just a bit more blush than necessary, especially with such a pigmented blush as this one!)

Speaking of the E.L.F stipple brush, I also received this little beauty in the same haul as the blush. I really like it because it is big and has two layers of fine hair. As I mentioned before, stipple brushes are extremely useful for high risk makeup like bronzer and blush, as one slip of the hand will have you looking overdone! The semi transparent hair of the top layer of the brush serves as a clear indicator of too much or too little product. The second picture shows how easy it is too see how much product you have picked up. Mine brush is already stained pink from the blushers I use it with :P

There is quite a story behind this foundation. I was all to eager to buy a liquid foundation. So even though my shade was sold out, I purchased the next one over which what this color is. The shade is called caramel and it is DEFINITELY not the same color as it appears to be online. In fact, it is two shades darker and certainly doesn't match my skin tone... even in the summer!!! And if this deception wasn't enough, the packaging came to my doorstep with a broken pump applicator which resulted in the foundation leaking out of its' container! ummm wow. Can you spell D-I-S-A-P-O-I-N-T-M-E-N-T? But the let down doesn't end here. After receiving this I emailed the company asking for a refund...that never came. First they told me that I would be refunded, than they said I would receive a new foundation. But nothing ever came! DDDD:. I have to say as disappointing as this was, it's the first mistake I have ever witnessed from ELF so I wont disown quite them yet...

There isn't much to say about the setting spray. I suppose the purpose is to "'refresh " while keeping your makeup in place.I have found it to allow my makeup last about thirty minutes more than it usually does. There is a faint smell which isn't too pleasant but there seems to be a lot of product ! I was relieved to find that it doesn't leave the skin looking or feeling sticky/hardened. It really isn't something I would use daily and if I used it at all it would be in the summer.

thanks for reading :)

another awaited E.L.f HAUL and follow up.

For starters, I feel that I owe an apology for putting off so many posts so recently. I have truly been lazy all summer. Proof of this would be the fact that I have two ginormous summer assighnments piling up right now and I have barely touched them with school only 4 weeks away! It's hysterical that the only time I want to do anything is when I am supposed to be doing something else, something that it particularly boring. does that make sense? XD haw haw. kk time for the follow up.:

The foundation brush that many will recall from the previous post, turned out to be a huge succces! It basically does the work of all the makeup sponge wedge thingy's and you never have to throw it away!. Its' bristles are plastic-like and virtually indestrructable, which means no shedding and it never loses it's shape.

I am currently awaiting another E.L.F haul and I am super excited for this one. I ordered the high definition powder, the tinted lip balm, the setting spray, flawless finish foundation, stipple brush, and cream blush. I should be here around next sunday ( it takes about ten days to get here because I live on the opposite side of where they are manufactured.)

elf haul review!!!

Finally! After waiting two weeks the package arrived with my e.l.f cosmetics. So after using the products for about a week now, I am ready to give my review. here goes :P

Lets start with the all over cover stick: I got the product in spice though I could have sworn I ordered it in honey. The point was to get a close match to my skin tone and see how well it worked as a concealer. Luckily, the spice tone did not look too bad on my skin. I think it made my skin darker by a teeeeny bit, but besides that, it could also work as a bronzer. It did a pretty good job covering any reddish spots like on my cheeks but I wouldn't use it to cover blenishes or scars. As for application, it was smooth and creamy. TIP: Warm the product by swirling your finger on the top and apply with your fingertips (less messy and better blending). Also blend quickly because if u let it dry, it will look like you have streaks on your face! Basically, this product gets four stars out of five because it's smooth, has good coverage, and the price is a steal. The only bad expirience I had with this product was the blending because it dries very quickly, and I think e.l.f may have messed up on the color. I give this product a 4 out of 5 as a concealer.

I also ordered the moisturizing lip balm in strawaberry cream. I carry this products everywhere because it really softens my lips and makes them look healthy immediatley. I didnt detect the strawaberry creme flavor that this product is supposed to have but it didn't really matter to me. TIP: do not apply alot on chapped lips! it will collect on chapped ereas and look white and it's impossible to fix it! Use only on even skin. I was a little dissapointed because for some reason, the packaging allowed me to twist the bottom to make the lip balm come out, but it wouldn't twist backwards to make the balm go back into the tube! So I have to be carefull when using it otherwise the cap will smoosh the top of the stick! :( So i would give this a 4 out of 5 because it works lie a charm (on SEMI chapped lips) and the price it's so cheap. I didnt appreciate the packaging tho...

I got two brushes: the essential foundation brush, and the total face brush . The total face brush is definately my favorite brush ever! For one thing, it's HUGE! and it feels so soft. I use it to put on my everyday mineral foundation. It does a really good job picking up loose powder. I have absolutely no complaints about this brush :)))))) The e.l.f foundation brush is a little harder to review because it is the one product I have yet to use! The bristles are smooth but stiff and I dont use my liquid foundation too much so I havn't had the chance to try this brush!. I give the total face brush a 5 out of 5 and the foundation brush is pending.

The shimmering facial whip is one of those products that probobly only works with certain people. I use the lilac petal as a highlighter on my cheeks. It comes in a cute and tiny bottle, but dont worry because you only need a small amount for one use! TIP: It's very sheen so be carefull! I think I would use it more often if it wasn't so shimmery... anyway, I give it a 3 out of 5 because I rarely use it and it has a bit too much glitter for my taste. It does have many uses so if you are creative , I would buy this item ( it's a great bargain :))

The clarifying pressed powder is a great product! it not only minimizes large pores and absorbs shine, but it also helps clear skin. I really appreciated the little powder puff that came with it though i prefer using the total face brush. The compact is slim so I can take it everywhere and it fits in my pocket.TIP: lots of product will get on the powder puff so sweep it across the compact LIGHTLY. I give this product a 4 out of 5. definatley worth buying!

If anyone has recommendations for elf cosmeticts ( or any cosmeticts for that matter :P )I would love to hear them!

anticpating E.L.F haul

My longtime love for online merch and great deals led me to the infamous eyes lips face studio website, otherwise known as E.L.F. At first I was adding things to my online shopping cart so quickly that I had racked up 50 dollars worth of makeup brushes, mineral concealers and bronzers, lipstick and lip glosses, eyeshadows and mascara , all within half an hour! Not to worry though, the website iss full of cupon codes and special offers that cut my total up to 40%. Even though I had to downsize a little, I was extremely happy to purchase 6 items ( to be revealed once my order gets here ;) ) for less than 15 bucks! including shipping and handling. i got some sample sizes just in case the product doesnt work for me, but according to the accounts I've heard from others, these products are wonderfull!

*WARNING* shipping and handling is pricy, U.S costs $6.50 and more than twice that much to Canada!
